1862 Joshua Hall of Frankfort, legislator and Governor of Maine in 1830, elected by the Legislature after 49 ballots, dies.

Shipwreck of the Annie C. Maguire on ledges adjacent to the Portland Head Light. The crew was saved.

Republican Governor (1925-1929) and U.S. Senator Ralph Owen Brewster (1941-1952), believed to have had ties to the Ku Klux Klan in Maine, dies.
