Lobster Lake in Lobster Township is east of the northernmost portion of Moosehead Lake and of adjoining Northeast Carry Township.
Lobster lake, so-named because of its shape, dominates as an attraction for canoe trips and camping. Campsites are available primarily on the western shore.
Its two major coves are labeled Big Claw and Little Claw. This large body of water includes Big Island in its middle, marshes that are home to beavers, and beautiful sandy beaches. Shallow Cove is located near the northwest shore, which hosts and extensive marsh.
A Forest Ranger Station sits on a point at the north end of the lake. The lake is accessible on the Lobster Trip Road, off the Golden Road. From the Lobster Trip Road, one may launch a canoe on Lobster Stream which leads to the lake. The stream flows from the lake to the Upper West Branch of the Penobscot River.
The north end of the elongated Lobster Mountain fronts on the south end of the lake. Little Lobster Lake is just northeast of the main lake. Four other small ponds dot the eastern portion of the township.
