(1828-1884) a U.S. Representative, was born in Norridgewock on March 3, 1828. He attended the common schools and Bloomfield Academy, studied law, was admitted to the bar and began his practice in Norridgewock in 1853.

Clerk of the judicial courts in Somerset County from 1857 to 1860, he was a member of the Maine House of Representatives in 1856, and served in the Maine State Senate (1868-1870) and was president of that body in 1869.

A delegate to the Republican National Conventions in 1860 and 1868; Lindsey was a member of the Executive Council in 1874. Elected as Republican to the Forty-fifth, Forty-sixth, and Forty-seventh Congresses (March 4, 1877-March 3, 1883), he was not a candidate for renomination in 1882.

He resumed his legal practice but died in Norridgewock on April 26, 1884, with interment in River View Cemetery.
