Perham

The northern portion is dominated by a section of Maine Public Reserved Land, some of which encompasses the Salmon Brook Lake. A 1,055-acre Ecological Reserve surrounds the lake and wetlands. The 59-mile multi-use Bangor and Aroostook Trail is a located in Perham, Caribou, and other area towns. The trail, formerly a Bangor and Aroostook Railroad corridor, passes along the western side of Salmon Brook Lake Bog in Perham. Located west of Caribou on Maine Route 228. Wade

Once known as Garden Creek Plantation and Dunntown, Wade is just northwest of Presque Isle on the Aroostook River. North Wade is a small settlement on Maine Route 228 in the northeast corner of the township. The Aroostook River in Wade is part of one of Maine’s “Focus Areas of Statewide Ecological Significance.” Continue reading

Woodland

With little in the way of a central village, the town lies west of Caribou served by Maine Routes 161 and 228. See photos. Unable to find enough land in New Sweden, members of the Swedish Colony were granted 100 acre lots in Woodland. This northern community, in the heart of potato and forest product country, is not to be confused with the village of Woodland in the town of Baileyville. Continue reading
