The Machias River (North) flows south through the township from its source, Big Machias Lake, in T12 R8 WELS.

Russell Crossing on the Machias River hosts an authorized campsite with  an adirondack shelter, a picnic table shelter, three fireplaces, three picnic tables, and one privy.  Access, including camper trailers, is from the Realty Road. A hand carry boat launch is nearby.

Three modest water bodies occupy the western portion of the township: McGowen Pond, Rowe Lake and Round Mountain Pond.

After rounding the mountain, Jack Mountain Road enters T10 R8 WELS.
