1805 Birth date of Governor William G. Crosby of Belfast elected in 1852 by the legislature though he received fewer popular votes than his opponent.
1928 John Bapst High School in Bangor, named for 19th century Swiss Jesuit priest and missionary, opened as a parochial high school for boys and girls. In 1929, the first class of 29 girls graduated.
1934 Repeal of the Twenty-sixth Amendment to the Maine Constitution, Relating to the Manufacture and Sale of Intoxicating Liquors approved. (See December 6th.)
