The Roll Dam campsite is a fine location from which to launch the brief trip to Lobster Stream and then to Lobster Lake.  The AMC River Guide notes that “This is the smoothwater section of the West Branch [of the Penobscot River].”*

The campsite, on the right bank, and the first mile on the river are in Seboomook Township on the Burbank Road to Seboomook Dam.  In a little over three more miles, moving through Northeast Carry Township, a hand-carry boat launch is on the right bank at the Northeast Carry Road.

Two miles further a trailerable boat launch sits at the entrance to Lobster Stream, also on the right.  The stream leads to Lobster Lake, in Lobster Township.  Campsites and sandy beaches on this undeveloped lake make the trip a rewarding one.
