1804 Birth date in New Hampshire of President Franklin Pierce, Bowdoin College graduate and close friend of Nathaniel Hawthorn, a fellow Bowdoin graduate.
2000 The Mt. Abram ski resort in Locke Mills, in the town of Greenwood, was sold to Josh Burns of Waterford and Falmouth for $325,000 the Norway Advertiser-Democrat reported. The 700-acre resort consists of 35 ski trails, a snow tubing park, five lifts, a ski patrol facility, a rental shop, and other buildings.
