1861 Falmouth-built vessel Ben Dunning is captured by Confederate raiders.
1942 Richard Francis Lavigne, USAF, dies in a Japanese prison on the island of Luzon during WWII after surviving the Bataan death march. Lavigne was from Piscataquis County where a memorial is placed in Big Moose Township.
