State mandates “a course in geography and the natural and industrial resources of Maine shall be taught in at least one grade from 7 to 12, inclusive, in all school systems, both public and private.”  Apparently the first “Maine studies” requirement.
1966 President Lyndon Johnson visits Lewiston to deliver a speech, then went to Topsham’s Dairy Queen for an ice-cream. [see presidential visits]
